Mr. Bashir M. Wali was the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) between February, 2016 – April 2017. Prior to this, he was an Executive Director with NEXIM from August, 2009 to February 2016.

He holds a law degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a BL (Barrister at Law) from the Nigerian Law School, Nigeria and a master’s in law degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex, United Kingdom.

Mr. Wali started his career in the Kano State Civil Service as Pupil State Counsel and rose to the rank of Senior State ‘Counsel Grade 1 before voluntarily retiring in July 1987. Thereafter he joined Afribank Nigeria Plc as a Manager and pioneered the Establishment of the Area Legal Office in North-East Area Office. He served as Group Legal Adviser, Group Company Secretary/Legal Adviser and General Manager for the Afribank Group, amongst others. After leaving  the Afribank Group in 2009, he was appointed as an Executive Director with NEXIM 2009 – 2016.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administrators (FICA) Business Recovery &Insolvency  Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN). He is also a member of the Institute of Directors and an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB).

He has attended course and programmes in various first-rate business and management schools abroad, including International Centre for Parliamentary Studies, United Kingdom, The Wharton School, and Manchester Business School.

He is a founding Partner of Tijjani M.Borodo Associates. He is happily married with children and loves watching movies and listening to music.
